Poached pears are by far one of the best desserts one can eat. I usually poach pears in Earl Grey tea but you can never go wrong with the classic red wine poached pears for sure! Great post!

- Thanks, everyone, for visiting and commenting.
- Kristy Lynn - oh, yes, vanilla ice cream would be great with the pears. (And much easier to buy than making creme anglaise.)
- Tali Simon - I actually carried everything home in separate containers and then composed the dish in my kitchen. The course is great - it's only a few weeks and has been so worth it. And why wait to retire to do something you love?
- Veggie Girl - thanks!

Wait. You took that home to photograph? In what? Everything stayed perfectly still? Also, I am so jealous of your course. I always say I'll go to culinary school when I retire (I'm 25).

i adore pears in spiced red wine sauce... i've never thought to pair that with creme anglaise - usually just vanilla ice cream... but i'll think of this next time. it's such a light yet satisfying dessert. love it!

ps. don't you just want to die when you don't have your camera or forget to take photos? and then you're like, "CRAP!"... oh, how sad us little bloggers really are... ;)
