- Driven cook - this is a 4-stranded braid. The trick is that rather than alternating which side you braid from as in a 3-stranded braid, you always start braiding from the same side. I&#039;ll try to describe in words how this works, but bear with me. Roll out 4 strands and pinch them together at the top. Lay the strands parallel to one another. For ease of description, let&#039;s label them from left to right, numbers 1,2,3,4. Then with your left hand, cross 1 over 2 and under 3. It should end up between 3 and 4. With your left hand again, cross 2 over 3 and under 4. With your left hand again, cross 3 over 4 and under 1. You get the idea. Every even-stranded braid works like this. Good luck!]]></description>
